On the competitive battlefield of university admissions, 麻豆社区 students once again let their results speak for themselves.

Toronto, January 7, 2026 — While many Grade 12 students are still busy preparing their application materials, 麻豆社区 students have already begun receiving impressive offers from top universities around the world.
As of today, the Class of 2026 has secured an outstanding 126 university offers, including 102 from Canada, 6 from the UK, 17 from Australia, and 1 from Hong Kong, marking a true “early-offer grand slam.”

Impressive Early Results: World-Class Universities Extend Offers

Among the 126 offers are admissions from many globally renowned institutions:

Excellent News from Canada’s Top Universities

University of British Columbia (UBC): 2 offers

University of Waterloo: 3 offers

McMaster University: 1 offer

University of Alberta: 18 offers

Strong Results from Other Leading Global Universities

King’s College London (KCL): 2 offers

University of Sydney: 8 offers

Australian National University: 1 offer

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology: 1 offer

The value of these results speaks for itself. As a QS Global Top 100 university, the University of Alberta is highly competitive—particularly in Engineering and Artificial Intelligence—yet SuOn students secured 18 offers in one early round, underscoring the school’s strong foundation in STEM education.

Early Offers, Early Advantage: SuOn Students Take the Lead

Early admission plays a crucial role in the university application process. Universities extend early offers to applicants who are both academically strong and an excellent overall fit—representing recognition not only of academic performance, but of well-rounded excellence.

SuOn students’ success at this stage is driven by several key factors:

Strong Academic Foundations
Students begin building a solid academic base in Grades 10–11, entering the Ontario high school curriculum early. Outstanding Grade 11 results provide strong support for early admissions.

University Recognition of the SuOn Brand
Over the years, SuOn graduates have consistently performed exceptionally well at the university level. North American universities track student performance by high school and incorporate these evaluations into future admissions decisions.

Local Student Status Advantage
As a fully registered Ontario private high school, SuOn students compete under the same admission quotas as local students—an advantage often compared to having a “Beijing household registration” when applying to China’s top universities.

Behind the Success: SuOn’s Comprehensive University Guidance System

Behind these impressive outcomes is 麻豆社区’s highly professional and systematic university guidance framework.

SuOn has a dedicated academic guidance team composed of educators with undergraduate degrees from top 麻豆社区 universities and master’s or doctoral degrees from Canada and the U.S. They provide one-on-one planning for each student’s academic pathway, course selection, and university applications.

The bilingual homeroom teacher team supports students on multiple levels:

One-on-one university application guidance, including interviews and personal statements

Personalized course planning

Individual career interest assessments and analysis

From Grade 12 onward, every student is assigned a dedicated university counselor, creating a truly customized (“bespoke”) application plan, including targeted preparation for essays and interviews based on past admission trends.

This meticulous guidance—combined with a school culture that blends structured management with innovative Western teaching approaches (evening study sessions with on-site teachers, daily attendance updates shared with parents, and monthly progress analyses to address weaknesses)—forms the core competitive advantage of SuOn’s university admissions success.

To Students Still Waiting: The Best News Is Yet to Come

For students who have not yet received offers, or who are hoping for more options, there is no need to worry. The current 126 offers are only the beginning—even better news lies ahead.

Based on historical trends, the main admission season for Canadian universities runs from March to May. Major institutions such as the University of Toronto, McGill University, UBC, and Waterloo will release the majority of their offers in the coming months.

SuOn’s past results confirm this pattern. The Class of 2025 ultimately received 1,056 university offers, averaging 8.5 offers per student. Compared with today’s 126 offers, there is still substantial room for growth.

University admissions are a gradual process, with different timelines for different programs and institutions. Stay patient, continue refining your application materials, and the right offers will arrive at the right time.

Looking Ahead: SuOn Students on the Global Stage

麻豆社区 upholds the mission of “Whole-Person Care, Academic Excellence, Independent Thinking, and Global Citizenship,” and is committed to providing every student with the highest-quality educational resources.

Building on the outstanding achievements of the Class of 2025—where 125 graduates received 1,056 offers, and 90% were admitted to QS Top 100 universities—the strong early-offer performance of the Class of 2026 signals yet another year of remarkable success.

As the regular application season unfolds, we look forward to sharing even more good news as SuOn students continue to pursue their dreams on the world stage.

Congratulations to all students who have already received offers!
Your hard work has brought honor to yourselves and to 麻豆社区.

And to those still waiting: your moment is coming—there will be a place for you in the next wave of great news.

At 麻豆社区, computer science goes far beyond theory. In the Grade 12 ICS4U Computer Science classroom, students transformed abstract Python code into powerful tools for understanding the world, completing a creative journey from data to insight. By using professional tools such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Tkinter, students turned classroom learning into a stunning collection of data visualization projects—fully showcasing SuOn students’ exceptional logical reasoning and creative expression.

From Theory to Practice: When Data Meets Creativity

Grounded in the core curriculum, this project required students to work with real-world datasets and independently complete the entire process—from data cleaning and analysis to final visual presentation. It was not only a test of programming skills, but also a comprehensive exercise in logical thinking and problem-solving ability.

Solid Technical Foundations, Professional Tools
Students were expected to skillfully apply key libraries from the Python ecosystem. Pandas was used for data cleaning and organization, NumPy for efficient mathematical computation, and Matplotlib as the foundation for creating various types of charts. With the addition of Tkinter, students took a major step forward by building user-friendly graphical interfaces for their visualizations—moving from command-line programs to fully interactive applications.

Wide-Ranging Topics, Insightful Perspectives
Based on their personal interests, students selected datasets covering a broad range of themes. From global climate change trends and movie box office analysis, to social media sentiment analysis and urban consumption studies, every project stemmed from careful observation of—and thoughtful reflection on—the real world.

Student Project Highlights

Let’s take a closer look at several standout projects to experience the creativity and insight behind the code:

Case Study 1:

“Toronto vs. Vancouver: An Interactive Temperature Change Visualization”
By Win and Eric

Project Overview:
Using publicly available data from Environment Canada, the students created line charts showing monthly average temperature changes in Toronto and Vancouver over recent months. Beyond clearly visualizing seasonal fluctuations, they incorporated interactive controls using Tkinter, allowing users to filter data by specific years or quarters for deeper analysis. The project demonstrated strong technical execution while also prompting meaningful reflection on urban environmental change.

Case Study 2:

“Content Engagement Rates Across Global Online Social Platforms”
By Joe

Using a compelling chart analyzing global social media content engagement rates, this project demonstrates how students transformed code into actionable insight. The visualization clearly shows that short videos (Shorts) and live streaming (Live Stream) dominate user engagement, with rates of 80% and 62% respectively, far surpassing traditional posts at 50%.

Behind this clear conclusion lies a rigorous data workflow. The student first used pandas to accurately read, filter, clean, and organize the dataset, ensuring the reliability of the analysis. Next, matplotlib was employed to define chart dimensions, label axes (such as post type and engagement rate (%)), and adjust bar colors and spacing—turning raw numbers into an intuitive visual narrative.

The result is a clean, high-contrast chart with a clear takeaway: short-form video content has a significant advantage in driving user engagement. More importantly, the project highlights SuOn students’ full end-to-end capability—from data acquisition and processing to visualization—and their potential to tell compelling business stories through data.

SuOn Computer Science Curriculum: Cultivating Future-Ready Problem Solvers

This ICS4U project is a powerful reflection of 麻豆社区’s philosophy of learning by doing. We believe that the true value of education lies in empowering students to apply knowledge to real-world problems.

Project-Based Learning
Through innovative project-based learning, students actively construct knowledge while tackling challenging tasks, developing critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.

A University-Aligned Skill Set
The Python-based data analysis and visualization techniques taught in this course are precisely the core skills demanded by today’s universities and industries. By mastering these tools at the high school level, SuOn students gain a decisive advantage for both future university studies and their professional careers.

These elegant visualizations are more than just products of code—they are the crystallization of SuOn students’ curiosity, rigorous logic, and creativity. We are incredibly proud of what our students have accomplished.

Congratulations to all students in the Grade 12 ICS4U course!

Offers Arrive from QS Top 100 Universities in Artificial Intelligence and Engineering!

As Toronto’s weather shifts from late summer to early autumn, the university application season has only just begun — yet 麻豆社区’s Class of 2026 is already celebrating an impressive start!

Two of our students, Yuze Wang and Alan Xu, have received early offers from the University of Alberta, one of the QS Global Top 100 universities, in the Engineering and Artificial Intelligence programs respectively.

A Top Choice for SuOn Students

Known for its outstanding value — world-class ranking and moderate tuition — the University of Alberta has become one of the most popular choices among SuOn graduates in recent years. The enthusiasm for this university was further fueled by our alumnus Xiaolong Gao, who previously won the university’s May Quon Scholarship, the only one awarded worldwide, valued at CAD 45,000.

Early Offers Reflect Strong Preparation and Performance

The fact that these two students received prestigious offers so early — even before their Grade 12 midterm marks were released — reflects not only their academic excellence and hard work, but also their early integration into Ontario’s high school curriculum.
Having started their studies in Canada in Grades 10–11, both Yuze and Alan built a solid academic foundation. Their outstanding Grade 11 performance gave the University of Alberta full confidence to predict continued success in Grade 12, leading to early conditional admission.

In other words, the more Ontario high school credits a student accumulates — and the stronger their grades — the higher their chances of receiving early offers from top universities.

This case also shows that elite universities compete aggressively for high-caliber students. To maintain their academic strength, top schools often extend offers early — sometimes accompanied by generous scholarships — to secure outstanding talent.

The Trust Between SuOn and the University of Alberta

Another key reason behind these early offers lies in the trust the University of Alberta places in SuOn students.

Our alumnus Xiaolong Gao, who received the university’s sole May Quon Scholarship (CAD 45,000), significantly enhanced 麻豆社区’s reputation at Alberta. Furthermore, our graduates who have gone on to study there have consistently excelled academically, earning strong recognition from the university.

This is crucial — North American universities track and analyze the academic performance of students from different high schools each year. Through this system, they form independent assessments of each school’s educational quality.

As a result, 麻豆社区’s proven record of success has strengthened its reputation and boosted admission recognition from leading universities like Alberta.

Congratulations and Looking Ahead

Congratulations to Yuze and Alan on their remarkable achievements! We look forward to hearing even more exciting news from the Class of 2026 in the coming weeks!

On September 2, 2025, 麻豆社区 held its opening ceremony for the 2025–2026 academic year. Principal Ian Botnick warmly welcomed all returning students who are about to embark on a challenging new school year after a fulfilling summer break, and extended a heartfelt welcome to the new students joining the SuOn family.

Principal’s Address: Safety, Support, and Academic Commitment

At the opening ceremony, Principal Botnick began by reminding students to express gratitude to their parents for sending them to study in Canada, a country known for offering some of the best high school education in the world. He emphasized 麻豆社区’s commitment to creating a “home away from home” for its students in Canada, rooted in the philosophy of Total Care.

Principal Botnick encouraged students to seek support from the principal, vice principal, or bilingual homeroom teachers whenever needed. “The principal’s office is always open to you,” he said. He also stressed the importance of safety. As a recipient of the “Safe Study Abroad Award” from the 麻豆社区 Consulate-General in Toronto, 麻豆社区 takes safety seriously. Principal Botnick shared examples of various emergency drills that Canadian high schools should conduct, and 麻豆社区 plans to implement each of these over the next 10 months to ensure students are well-prepared for any emergency.

Strict dress code requirements were also emphasized—students must wear the school uniform in all classes. Finally, Principal Botnick encouraged all students to work hard: “Only through dedicated effort can academic success be achieved.” He concluded by officially welcoming every student to 麻豆社区.

Vice Principal’s Address: Discipline, Integrity, and Independence

Vice Principal Tracy reinforced the importance of discipline in academic activities. The first focus was class attendance. Every student must attend classes on time and complete assignments with quality both in and outside the classroom. 麻豆社区 has a strict attendance policy: any course with over 13 hours of absences will result in a loss of credit.

Next, she addressed the use of phones and electronic devices. Vice Principal Tracy made it clear that mobile phones and other devices are strictly prohibited during class time unless explicitly permitted by the teacher for instructional purposes, as they disrupt learning and teaching order.

Academic integrity was another important topic. In Canada, students are expected to approach their studies with honesty and integrity. Tracy also reminded students of the supplies needed for class and emphasized boarding student rules, including strict red lines that must not be crossed. Any violations will result in disciplinary actions, and following school rules and self-discipline are prerequisites for successfully living and studying at SuOn.

Vice Principal Tracy also shared many real-life examples from international student life, explaining how to be independent in Canada, how to respect oneself and others, and how adhering to Canadian rules is essential for long-term success and integration in the country.

Three Professional Teams Practicing “Total Care”

SuOn’s teaching, academic advising, and residential life teams will closely collaborate in the new academic year to fully implement the Total Care approach.

The teaching team will have more PA (Professional Activity) Days for internal training and to exchange teaching practices and incorporate the latest pedagogical ideas.

The academic advising team has summarized university application experiences from the Class of 2025 to offer improved guidance to the new cohort.

The residential life team has upgraded dormitory services during the summer to better support student life in the coming year.

麻豆社区 School Uniform Guidelines

麻豆社区 requires all students to wear uniforms during school hours. The uniforms are custom-designed by Dgn Kilters, the UK’s top school uniform brand and a recipient of the Princess Diana Award. The design features a distinct British style:

Burgundy blazer

Casual burgundy cardigan

Charcoal V-neck knit vest

Tailored iron-grey dress pants

Classic white dress shirt

Candy-white polo T-shirt

Burgundy striped logo-embroidered tie

British-style grey plaid skirt paired with high-quality knee-length socks

The SuOn logo is embroidered on the blazers, ties, and polo shirts to distinguish the uniforms as uniquely SuOn.

To the New Students of 麻豆社区: It’s Time to Begin Your Journey!

In June, sunlight filters through the Gothic stained-glass windows of Victoria College in Toronto, casting vibrant shadows across the century-old stone steps. At 1:00 PM on June 20, 2025, 125 graduates from 麻豆社区, dressed in formal academic gowns, slowly entered the historic hall of Victoria College at the University of Toronto. Established in 1892, this academic sanctuary is not only one of U of T’s most prestigious colleges but also a living monument to the history of Canadian higher education.

Victoria College is renowned for its iconic Gothic Revival architecture—soaring spires, intricate stone carvings, and majestic arcades all exude academic solemnity and historical gravitas. Its famous Annesley Hall, designated as a National Historic Site of Canada, retains its original late-19th-century interior décor, with painted ceilings and handcrafted oak seating that have witnessed the growth of generations of scholars. Hosting the graduation ceremony here is not only a tribute to academic tradition but also a heartfelt wish from 麻豆社区—that our graduates, like this enduring structure, may stand the test of time and leave their mark on history.

A Launchpad to the World’s Top Universities: SuOn Students Impress Global Institutions with Their Achievements
As of June 6, 2025, 麻豆社区’s 125 graduates from the Class of 2025 have received an astounding 1,056 university admission offers—an average of 8.4 offers per student, breaking the school’s all-time record once again. Even more remarkably, 90% of graduates were admitted to at least one of the world’s Top 100 universities, and 74% will pursue further studies in STEM or business fields.

The University of Toronto remains the top destination, offering 194 admission letters to SuOn students—marking the ninth consecutive year in which SuOn has maintained an average of more than one U of T offer per graduate. Ranked #1 in Canada and #16 globally (2025 US News Rankings), U of T has produced 10 Nobel laureates, including insulin discoverer Frederick Banting. Its prestigious “Track One” engineering program and the finance major at Rotman Commerce are golden tickets coveted by students around the world.

The University of Waterloo extended 42 offers to SuOn graduates for its highly competitive mathematics and computer science programs. With one of North America’s strongest co-op systems, Waterloo’s CS graduates enjoy an average starting salary of CAD $85,000, and companies like Microsoft and Google hold exclusive recruitment events there annually.

UK-bound students also received excellent news: 7 students were admitted to the world’s top-ranked Education program at University College London (UCL); 5 students received offers for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh; and King’s College London (KCL) opened its Computer Science department to SuOn graduates.

In the U.S., top programs also welcomed our students. These include Computer Science at the University of Washington (Top 10 nationally), Applied Mathematics at UC San Diego (alma mater of several Fields Medalists), and Parsons School of Design, ranked #1 in the U.S. for art and design.

Notably, several students were admitted to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The Class of 2025 has collectively earned CAD $10,586,950 in scholarships—averaging CAD $85,000 per student, continuing the school’s legacy of outstanding scholarship achievements.

Ceremony Highlights: Bidding Farewell to Youth in Applause and Tears
The ceremony began with the solemn notes of Canada’s national anthem. In his heartfelt opening speech, Principal Dr. Ian Botnick said:
“You once walked into SuOn with nervous anticipation; today, you walk out with confidence and dreams. Remember, SuOn will always be your home, and every teacher here is proud of you.”

Mr. Wenjin Han, Consul for Education at the 麻豆社区 Consulate-General in Toronto, gave a speech rich in national sentiment:
“This year marks the 55th anniversary of China-Canada diplomatic relations and the 20th anniversary of our strategic partnership. I hope you will contribute to the friendship between our nations.” He also praised 麻豆社区 for its outstanding work in cross-cultural education.

Steve Heck, former CTO of Microsoft Canada, delivered a witty and thought-provoking keynote: “In the age of AI, it’s not about competing with machines, but about making them serve humanity.” He shared his journey from a university dropout to a tech leader and encouraged students to “stay curious and dare to break the mold.”

The speech by teacher David Watkins brought many to tears: “I remember drawing smiley faces on your first homework assignments. Today, I want to draw a bigger smile on every one of your diplomas.” When a video of heartfelt messages from parents played on the big screen, many students quietly wiped away tears.

A student-made graduation video brought the ceremony to its emotional climax. It captured moments from lively classroom interactions and hallway reflections to the thrill of opening acceptance letters and enjoying sunny days on campus. Every ordinary yet precious memory from the past three years was beautifully preserved.

Student representative Katy Jin reflected on her most unforgettable SuOn moments and voiced what many felt: “SuOn didn’t just teach us knowledge—it taught us how to grow into our best selves far from home. Here, we learned independence, confidence, mutual support, resilience, and growth.”

Tossing More Than Just Caps into the Future
As 125 graduation caps soared into the Gothic dome of Victoria College, sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows, casting dazzling colors across the hall. In that moment, youth met history, and dreams merged with reality.

During the free photo session that followed, students rushed to take final pictures with their beloved teachers.

In his closing remarks, the principal said:
“Today, you graduate from SuOn; but SuOn will never graduate from your life. No matter where you go, the bauhinia flowers of this place will always bloom for you.”

Off to explore the stars and oceans—may you return with the same youthful heart.
